Professional Storyboard

Scene pre-visualization with framing, camera movement and timing — 100% open-source pipeline

A storyboard is the bridge between the script and the screen — a sequence of illustrations that pre-visualizes every scene before filming or animation begins. More than drawings, it's a planning tool that saves time, prevents rework, and aligns the creative vision of the entire team.

With over 20 years of audiovisual production and a Bachelor's in Visual Arts, I create detailed storyboards with framing notes, camera angles, movement, art direction and timing — all produced with open-source tools (Krita, Inkscape, Blender).

OverviewWhat is a professional storyboard?

A storyboard is a graphic organizer consisting of illustrations arranged in sequence to pre-visualize an audiovisual production. It works like a "drawn script" with a layout similar to a comic strip. Developed at Walt Disney Studios in the 1930s, it has become an industry standard. Each panel includes technical notes such as movement arrows, gaze direction, character positioning and camera notes. Widely used for:

  • Advertising (TV commercials, digital campaigns)
  • Film and series (scene pre-visualization)
  • 2D and 3D animation (framing and timing planning)
  • Music videos and digital content
  • UX and interface animation

ProcessProject stages

1

Briefing and script reading

Understanding the narrative, characters, tone and project needs. I analyze the script to identify shots, transitions and key visual communication points.

2

Thumbnails and rough sketches

Quick roughs to define the shot sequence, framing and basic composition. You validate the narrative structure before refinement.

3

Refinement and final art

Detailed drawings with corrected proportions, expressions, backgrounds and technical notes — movement arrows, camera direction and production notes.

4

Delivery and animatic (optional)

Delivery in PDF or digital format. Upon request, I create an animatic — an animated version of the storyboard with timing and audio — to validate pacing and duration before production.

FAQFrequently asked questions

What's the difference between a storyboard and an animatic?

A storyboard is a sequence of static illustrations. An animatic is that sequence edited into video format with timing and audio, allowing you to validate pacing and duration before production.

How long does a storyboard take to produce?

It depends on complexity and panel count. A 30-second commercial (12 to 18 panels) takes about 3 to 5 business days. Larger projects like films or series are scoped individually.

Do you work with color storyboards?

Yes. The default is black and white with shading, but I can deliver color versions or digital painting as needed.

Do I need a finished script to hire you?

Ideally yes, but I can help structure a visual script from an idea, brief or treatment. The important thing is having a clear direction of what will be produced.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes, including white-label arrangements. Get in touch to discuss terms and recurring project rates.
